Stalking the Man in the Yankee Store

Lets call him Nick... and we can call his boyfriend Ryan.

I am currently completing my senior year of college in a small rural town in the center of the state.  Gay men are limited (although you really wouldn't know if you read my blog.) so when I find one... I pounce faster than Simba in the Lion King.  This is where Nick comes in... he's a pretty standard country boy with bright blue eyes and a kick ass smile. You might ask...
how did you know he was gay?? ... well he works in a pretty big candle store... I don't know too many straight guys who work in a candle shop... do you?

I first ran into Nick as a freshman, I was looking for a gift for my mom for her birthday and long story short I knew she wanted a candle.  So I talked my friend into coming to the mall with me to pick one out, I have a horrible sense for what smells good when it comes to candles... men? no problem... candles? I'm fucked.

We walked into the store and he instantly caught my eye. I gave my friend the "I want to stick it in him" look. And god bless her she worked her magic.  We had been friends long enough (3 weeks?) that we had devised a system. She would flirt with a guy and if he bit the bait, I'd back away, if he didn't, well that meant he was either gay or not interested and if that was the case I liked my chances. She did her thing and I carefully watched, he didn't bite, that was enough to convince me. So I casually struck up conversation and told him I had just gotten into town and was looking for someone to hang out with.  He asked what was wrong with my college friends, and I informed him I wanted to branch outside of  the campus. What I really meant was, I want to branch out into your mouth, but we will get to that. He told me he'd have to check with his boyfriend, he didn't want to cause any jealousy, at least not intentionally. I thanked him for his time and left the store, didn't exchange a phone number ... not even a name.

for the next 3 years, every time I went to the mall I made sure to stop into the store and say hi... nothing ever materialized, until I met his boyfriend on grindr... but I'll save that for my next post...
